Designing a reed has always been one of my dreams. Many of us are on the hunt for the perfect reed.
For years, I personally struggled to find a well-balanced reed that would produce a warm, consistent sound.
Most jazz cuts seemed too bright and ‘buzzing’ to me, yet offered the projection I needed, whilst classic reeds had the depth and consistency I was looking for.
With the help of France’s leading reed maker, I designed a ‘hybrid’ reed that combined the qualities of both cuts and met my expectations exactly: a dark, warm tone that could still be pushed.
